Holi — the Hindu Spring festival — occurs Friday across the world. In Los Angeles, Hindus and non-Hindus alike take part in events called color festivals. The festival is among the largest in the Hindu faith, especially outside of India. The day marks the mythic victory of the god Vishnu over the villainous king Hiranyakashipu. Los Angeles Marathon to take place Sunday

The Los Angeles Marathon will take place March 16 on a route stretching from Dodger Stadium to Century City. The race is expected to begin at 7 a.m., and will last for about six hours and 30 minutes until after the last runner crosses the start line. Runners will follow a course which begins with a loop around Chinatown. From there, they will be directed through Echo park, along portions of Sunset Boulevard, and onto Hollywood Boulevard in Little Armenia. The route shifts back onto Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, and then mainly follows Santa Monica and San Vicente Boulevards into Brentwood

LAX modernization set to create jobs ahead of the 2028 Olympics

The Los Angeles City Council recently approved $5-billion worth of contracts for LAX's $30-billion overhaul ahead of the 2028 Olympics. The Feb. 19 decision establishes a Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) for design-build and construction services to accelerate modernization at LAX and Van Nuys Airport. The contract includes 51 agreements with a pool of pre-qualified design-builders and construction contractors to support forthcoming projects in LAWA's Capital Improvement Program.
